Saying Goodbye to a Great Show

In roughly 15 minutes, the series finale of Sons of Anarchy will begin.

On one hand, I’m excited to see how this masterful drama all plays out. But it’s also hard reach the end of a great series, even if it’s told its whole story. Watching the stories develop becomes routine. You become invested in the characters, even the ones you can’t stand.

There are only a few other shows that I was this sad to see end.

The Wire — In my opinion, the best crime series to date.

The X Files — Many moons ago, but still, a fantastic show.

Sex and the City — I mean, obviously.

Breaking Bad — This one is so recent, and it still hurts.

There were others that were so excellent for many seasons, but fell off toward the end. For instance, the series finale of Dexter was so horrible, I was angry for days afterward. And the once-awesome True Blood: What a shit show of a finale. I was happy to bid adieu to the whole thing after that. Good riddance.

I know show creator Kurt Sutter won’t disappoint with Sons of Anarchy. And no matter how it all ends, I will definitely be in TV mourning for a while.

If you’re a TV addict like me, what shows were the hardest for you to let go?
