The Wild Rumpus

Parenting and family, served with a shot of vodka

Is that a disc, or are you happy to see me?

One of the most joyous parts of parenting preschoolers (and working in a preschool, for that matter), is the hilarity that spills from kids’ mouths on a regular basis.

It could be that something gets lost in translation, or they mispronounce a word, or just say something unintentionally funny or cute. I find it so incredibly endearing.

For instance, my kids always say they’re “decorating their tacos” as they choose their toppings. Superhero,7,Β  always says “versing,” as in “Who are the Patriots versing this weekend?” Or, “we are versing Noah’s team at soccer on Saturday.”

But today’s gem, comes courtesy of Sweet Pea, 4. I was in the kitchen as she put a Halloween DVD in the player, and she hollered at me.

What she meant to say: “Mom, I can’t get the disc in!”

What she actually said: “Mom, I can’t get the dicks in!”

What I meant to say: “Oh, let me help you with that, babe.”

What I actually said: πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

“Let me …πŸ˜‚ help you out with thattttπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.”

I love her so much. Thanks, Sweet Pea. You are constantly rocking my world.
