It All Comes to a Screeching Halt

Hello, blogosphere!

I haven’t been here in a while, and I’ve missed it.

The holiday vortex of shopping and volunteering and early work deadlines sucked me right in, tossing me around like my late Jack Russell Terrier used to manhandle his dog toys. Although my innards aren’t strewn across the living room like so many squeaky toys over the years, my brain is pretty scrambled. And I’m SO tired.

But tonight, I will finally rest. I really should be working, or wrapping presents, or tackling the laundry monster in my basement, or hiding that flippin’ Elf. This unexpected down time has come courtesy of my young Superhero, who acquired some kind of seasonal plague at school.

He’s coughing and has a fever, and his red eyes look like he’s been on a bender for a week. Poor guy. He wants to cuddle, so that is now top priority.

Even at the ripe old age of one million, I still want my mom when I’m sick. And I am gonna be here for him, because that’s what mamas do. I love this little dude so much.

Sweet dreams, y’all. Happy merrymaking!
